The Stairs or the Elevator?
Every action is a vote for the type of person you’re becoming.
Hi friend,
James Clear once said:
“Every action you take is a vote for the person you wish to become.”
And it stuck with me.
Because it’s not just about making big life decisions.
It’s about the small ones, too. The ones we overlook. The ones we tell ourselves don’t matter.
🛗 Taking the elevator vs. walking the stairs.
🚌 Sitting on a bus for 1 stop vs. taking a brisk 10-minute walk.
🛒 Using the escalator at the mall vs. choosing the stairs.
These tiny choices, made over and over again, shape our identity more than we realize.
I see it all the time: people who say they want to be more active or healthier, but take the elevator to go up just one floor. And I get it. It’s easy. It’s convenient.
But so is staying the same.
And if we want to change, we need to start casting different votes. Even if they’re small ones.
It’s not about perfection. It’s about intention.
Start stacking those votes, walk a little more, stretch when you’re tired, choose the stairs when you can.
It’s your daily decisions that tell the story of who you’re becoming.
Your Turn?
🧠 What’s one small “vote” you can cast today toward the identity you want to build?
