The Habit That Keeps Me Grounded (And How I’m Finally Sticking to It)
Are you journaling daily? Here’s how it’s helping me—and how you can start too.
Hi friend,
There’s one habit that keeps showing up on every “high-performance” checklist I read: Journaling.
And it’s not just hype.
📌 Journaling helps you clarify your thoughts.
📌 It reduces stress by processing emotions instead of bottling them up.
📌 It sharpens focus, boosts gratitude, and even improves decision-making.
But the real magic?
It creates a space to slow down and reconnect with what matters, especially in a world that rarely lets us pause.
My Daily Journaling Routine
These days, I’m journaling twice a day;
☀️ Morning: To set my intentions and focus for the day.
🌙 Evening: To reflect, review, and reset.
I use the Day One app, which makes journaling frictionless. It syncs across devices, lets me add photos and voice notes, and even reminds me gently if I forget.
They also host a great podcast on journaling if you ever need a dose of inspiration: Day One Podcast
But how do you stick to a habit like journaling?
A few insights from the best books on habits:
🧠 Atomic Habits (James Clear): Make it obvious, make it easy. My phone opens to Day One each morning—zero friction.
🌱 Tiny Habits (BJ Fogg): Start small. Just one line is enough to count as a win.
🔁 The Power of Habit (Charles Duhigg): Every habit needs a cue, a routine, and a reward. Morning coffee? That’s my cue.
No matter what method you follow, the key is this: Consistency over perfection.
I’ve missed a few days here and there, but the habit keeps pulling me back—because it works.
